Discover the Unbreakable Bond: Alfie & Lavender's Inspiring Journey 🎀🐱

On 5/22/24 these two little girls – Alfalfa & Lavender – were found (along with four other siblings) under a porch in Pottstown with severe eye infections and dehydration. They were immediately brought into Stray Cat Blues to receive life saving care. Initially, it was necessary to stabilize them with sub Q fluids, antibiotics, B12 and attempt to provide relief by cleaning their eyes with warm compresses. It was uncertain if they would survive the night. The next day, we were relieved to see they were responding and stable enough to be placed in a foster home. 

Being only 4 weeks old at the time, Alfalfa and Lavender needed intensive care to be rehabilitated. It was clear from the beginning that Alfie’s one eye was irreparable and had to be removed. Both sisters were very good patients and improved daily under the loving care of their foster mom. Whenever they would hear her voice, the girls ran towards her to be picked up for love and cuddles. While Lavender seemed to be regaining her sight in one eye, unfortunately, Alfie remained blind. She relied on her sister to help guide her by staying close and communicating with cute little chirps.  

Eventually the day came when they were big and strong enough to undergo surgery for their spay and eye enucleation. Lavender’s one eye had healed completely and she had full sight in it, so only one eye was removed. Completely blind, Alfie had both of her eyes removed. This disability hasn’t slowed them down one bit. They are happy, healthy girls with a bright future ahead. We are thrilled to report that both sisters were just adopted together into a loving, caring new home!
